Easy Steps To Get You Started With Qigong

Try to get into a habit of doing these every morning before breakfast or just as you’ve woken up. The benefits will be worth it. Here are some very suitable movements for people just starting out with Qigong

  1. Start off with your feet together and place your hands into a prayer position in front of your chest, then bow forward and say ‘Namaste”(which means the spirit in me honors the spirit in you).

  2. Breathing Exercise

Step with your left foot to shoulder width. Open your palms out to the side and breathe in deeply, reaching up. Bring your palms in front of you as you exhale slowly. Repeat six times.

  3. Painting With Light

The next move is like painting a wall. Lift your arms up (while inhaling) to shoulder height with your wrists relaxed. Then slowly bring them back down while exhaling and sinking the knees a bit. Repeat six times.

  4. Opening The Energy Gates

Now, have your palms face each other in front of you. Bring them up to your chest and as you breathe in, stretch your arms out to the side as if you’re a gate opening. Then as you exhale bring your palms back in front of your chest. Repeat six times, then let the arms slowly come to rest at your sides.

  5. Connecting Heaven And Earth

Place your palms in front of your chest. Inhale and push your left hand up to the sky and push your right hand down to earth. Exhale and let the two palms pass each other as they switch places. Repeat six times and softly let arms down.
